Next Assassin's Creed Has New Hero, Time Period, Developer

The next Assassin’s Creed title will take place in a new time period for the franchise, and stars a new protagonist. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the “all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period” will be “another major leap forward for the franchise” when it releases some time before April 2014.

"It is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the product," Guillemot said, "each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin’s Creed game."

Guillemot did not specify which “new team” is behind the development of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed title, or whether it will release on current or future generation platforms.

The next chapter in Assassin’s Creed III, The Tyranny of King Washington, releases on February 19.

The Tyranny of King Washington starts February 19/20

It’s 1783 and the American Revolution is over, our hero, Ratonhnhaké:ton, awakens from an unsettling dream to find that despite his efforts to deliver justice in the newly-founded United States of America, a new king has been crowned – George Washington. Blinded by a thirst for unlimited power, Ratonhnhaké:ton must dethrone the tyrant and return freedom to the land.

The Infamy is the first episode of a three-part tale in the Tyranny of King Washington which will be available on Microsoft’s Xbox 360® and Windows PCs on February 19 and on Sony’s PlayStation®3 on February 20.

Following The Infamy, The Tyranny of King Washington will continue in two additional content packs that let gamers experience an alternate history of the events following the American Revolution. The three upcoming episodes are available through the Assassin’s Creed III Season Pass, which is available for purchase for 2400 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or £23.99 on the PlayStation® Network and Windows PC. The first episode can also be purchased as a single DLC pack for 800 Microsoft points or £9.99.

Mark your calendars, as you do not want to miss this experience of an alternate history of the events following the American Revolution.
